MEMENTO VIVERE Yacht Description

Presented by DMA Yachting, the astonishing charter yacht MEMENTO VIVERE is a 130 ft motor yacht featuring a jetski and a hot tub. The primary distinction of MEMENTO VIVERE are her generous space and alfresco dining areas. MEMENTO VIVERE spends the season in the Caribbean. She was completed by the famous yacht builder Westport in 2005. A well-done refit was completed in 2021. Name: Marthinus (Marnus) Van Der Berg
Nationality: South Africa
Position: First Officer
Position details: First Officer
Languages: Not specified
Description: Meet Marnus, MV’s First Mate - part maritime expert and part morale booster. Hailing from Senekal, South Africa, he swapped the bushveld for the open ocean in 2020, thanks to a captain from his hometown who wisely saw his potential (or just needed a really good deckhand). But don’t let the polished uniform fool you—before yachting, he was shaping young minds as an English teacher in South Korea and Vietnam, and as an au pair in Texas (because even cowboys need life lessons).

Armed with a B.Comm in Sports and Recreation Management, a Yachtmaster 200GT, and a stack of certifications that prove he knows his port from his starboard, Marnus isn’t just about keeping the ship in top shape - he’s about creating an onboard experience you won’t forget.

Off duty, you’ll find him behind a camera, testing out new cuisines, perfecting his golf swing, or grilling up a storm with family and friends - because if there’s one thing he loves as much as the sea, it’s a proper South African “braai.” With plans to captain 70-100 foot yachts and retire at 45 (preferably with a real estate empire), he lives by the motto: “Upwards and onwards.”

One of Vicky’s favorite parts of charter trips are themed parties, always excited to show off her creative side with superb table décor and seeing guests creating lasting memories onboard. Jana kept our rooms so clean and was like a little elf on the boat. MJ, Jamie, and Nick were always so helpful with all the water sports and getting us drinks, and just at our service non stop! The chef was soooo amazing also! We've never eaten so good in our life!! We will definitely be booking again!!

February 2026
The charter was totally wonderful and exceeded our expectations. The captain and crew were great, knowledgeable and fun. Our group used most of the water toys The crew acted like their only job was to make sure we had the ultimate fun trip. The chef went above and beyond with very good and artful meals. Ever ready to change up a menu if we asked. Lea and shani were perfect from continually seeking to assure our needs and beautiful table decoration for each meal. The birthday dance party was amazing. No one will forget. As was the pirate party ! The crew even provided costumes and props. One thing that was a wonderful surprise was the video the crew made of our trip. We are still waiting to have the video sent to us. Of course the accommodations were lovely. Lots of room to spread out! As a side note. We were able to see the green flash twice! We would not hesitate to charter this boat again but would. Need the same crew! If possible!
